Where:
We were not going to have a 5 à 7 in November, but with the postponement of our annual conference, an opportunity came up to see The NEW Glengarry Market before anyone else! We are thrilled to be invited to Amanda Haley's expanded venue in the heart of Alexandria. How could we resist?
Amanda Haley is the mastermind behind The Glengarry Market, a purveyor of local produce and goods made from within 100 km of its Alexandria location.
A geologist by trade (yes, one of those scientists who analyze soil samples and tell mining companies where to dig!), Amanda was always a health-conscious consumer. In her native Nova Scotia, she grew up visiting farmers' markets with her mother and grand-mother. After her kids were born and she moved to Glengarry, she opened The Brine Cellar, a home-based fermenting business in February 2016.
But in 2018, when the local health unit put new regulations in place, she decided to open her own commercial kitchen and retail outlet. Since then over 60 local vendors, farmers, growers, crafters and artisans have made The Glengarry Market the hub to shop local and support local.
Just over a year ago, Amanda decided to make a another big leap by bidding to purchase the former office building of the Township of North Glengarry. After a closed bidding process that involved "pitching" the Township Council on her vision, she learned that her bid was accepted. What followed was a challenging period of extensive renovations. Fortunately for us, The NEW Glengarry Market is ready to re-open, and this event will be its soft opening!
Your ticket includes delicious finger foods and desserts made from ingredients that are local, plus unlimited non-alcoholic drinks (cider, wine, water, tea, coffee).
We are grateful to our Title Partner, Desjardins Ontario Credit Union, for their ongoing support, and for providing door prizes. Similarly we are thankful for our Event Partner, ACCFutures, whose mission is to support entrepreneurs in their business plans.
Please note that, as with all our events, photos will be taken. Also keep in mind we reserve the right to use those in social media posts and on our website.
We aim to be inclusive, so this event is open to anyone who owns or operates a business or wishes to work with women entrepreneurs. Allies are always welcome.
