In the last e-news message, I described how my spinning plates (aka all the priorities I was trying to juggle) came crashing down in March.
Fast-forward a few weeks later, the stress is at a more manageable level after I took a break, put my health first and swore off electronics for four full days (a feat for me 🙃!).
That’s when I picked up an old book, one that launched my business dreams 24 years ago. Revisiting Simple Abundance: 365 Days to a Balanced and Joyful Life showed me how I had (yet again) become too busy to be happy.
First, it was time to return to gratitude. Because “how could I expect more from the universe when I didn’t appreciate what I already had?” That was a line from the January 13 reading felt like a swat to the side of my head.
The second principle I had to relearn was simplicity. In business, it’s too easy to want more: add more services or products, get more clients, earn more. But that can overcomplicate our operation to the point we become overwhelmed.
With my tendency to push for things to go my way and to take on too many projects, I was reminded “less is more.”
Now with Ontario in yet another wave of Covid, keeping things simple may end up being a wise resilience strategy. We’re ready to announce more events, but for now we’re concentrating on one event at a time…
Please share your experiences and thoughts below. Let’s learn from one another and celebrate each other’s successes.
Thanks for reading!
